Upcoming Joint Art Exhibition: ‘Blow In’ by Lara and Bunny Allport at Sugar House Studios, Brookvale

Sugar House Studios is hosting an upcoming joint exhibition, ‘Blow In’, featuring the works of artist Lara Allport and her mother, acclaimed floral artist Bunny Allport. This exhibition is a celebration of family, creativity, and a shared passion for the beauty of Australian flora.
The exhibition will showcase 22 original pieces. Bunny’s works primarily feature stunning representations of Australian native flowers, crafted with water colour to highlight their vibrant colours and intricate details.
Lara contributes to the exhibition with her own pieces, which intertwine flora and fauna, inviting a dialogue between the elements of nature and the viewer. The symmetrical nature of several works echoes the repeat patterns reminiscent of the legendary William Morris. This nostalgic quality serves as a bridge to the past, encouraging viewers to reflect on the ways things used to be.
‘Blow In’ goes beyond mere aesthetics; it challenges viewers to engage deeply with the art. Each pattern invites personal interpretation, much like a Rorschach test, allowing for unique deciphering of the imagery.
Lara’s sons – James and Will – have also collaborated with their mum and are exhibiting a piece each.
In addition to its artistic significance, ‘Blow In’ holds a heartfelt purpose. Once costs are covered, all profits from the exhibition will be donated to Cure Cancer, supporting vital research into pancreatic cancer. This cause is especially close to Bunny and Lara’s hearts, as they honour their late husband/ father, who bravely battled the disease until his passing on October 5th, 2021.
